Awesomely Awesome Videos of the Week

A little dated, but good for a chuckle.

Hillary sings our National Anthem (sounds as good as me and my buddies giving the 'chop' while drunk on the way back from the bars)

John Bradshaw Layfield, Fox News Financial Analyst, outspoken Republican and former WWE Champion, in action clotheslining people and protecting us from Illegal immigrants. Awesomely bad in the most awesome way possible

And Then There Was One

Hillary Clinton doesn't want you to know who's giving to her campaign.Something about being a Clinton and not wanting people to know stuff..

While campaigns are required to report the names of individuals who contribute the maximum $2,300, they don't have to provide the really important information: Who are the well-connected fund-raisers who so happen to be helping them bring in big bundles of cash? That's why we here at the Fed and many other voters have been asking that our Presidential candidates should release voluntarily the identities of those deep pocked people and within reason, let us know how much money they raised for them. In the past few days, two candidates, Democrat John Edwards and Republican Rudolph W. Giulliani, agreed to provide such disclosure. They join Democrat Barack Obama and Republicans John McCain and Mitt Romney, who had already made that promise.

No-So-Lost in Translation

So I'm going to begin some fun-time Sunday Activites for all you fed heads out there. The Springfield Republican is one of the most unabashadly liberal publications not only among newspapers in the United States, but probably all media as well. In an attempt to bring some conservative balance to all of this, I'm going to be beginning this little weekly piece discussing the many fun headlines you may hope to read when you pick up a copy of your not-so-beloved Sunday "Republican". The following are today's headlines and what they really mean.

Front Page

Romney Lives Down Heritage
(He's a Mormon. That's creepy. What's more creepy is that he's a Republican. By the way it didn't stop there as it's second headline in the REGION section of the paper stated that his family tree 'haunts' him. )

Page A2

Celebrating Teddy's 75th
(Teddy, by virtue of having the same birthday as George Washington, is George Washington re-incarnate. Difference between the two is Washington kills limeys and cherry treets, not women.

Virginia Sorry for Slavery (Uh, I'd hope they would be by now, gotta keep the race-baiters happy with this kind of non-news I suppose)

Page A3

Bomb Kills 39 In Iraq Mosque
(By the way the subtext read: Many people in the neightborhood work for the Iraqi Military of Police. 'Many People' was in bold. Anyways, we're still dying by the billions in Iraq and if we'd only just realize it and leave everything would be better!)

Iraq toll escapes most Americans (Americans are too dumb and not catching on the the obvious that Iraq is a total failure and leave)

Violence may delay handover (Just to remind us that the body count will continue to soar and we'll be in Iraq forever. Also, Terrorists rule.)

Page A4

Iran Proposes talk, not war
(Iran aren't really that bad. Bush is, but Iran, nope)

Ex-Diplomat urges US pullout of Iraq (Just another person who 'gets it'. People that think we should be here are idiots and anyone who knows what they're talking about should want us to leave)

Kurds OK oil-revenue sharing (See, we told you it was all a war for oil!)

Cheney's Voice carries from far-off Asia ( bah, we can pretend for one story)

Abbas fails to get sanctions lifted (btw, there is a nice-sized picture of Abbas and Jaques Chirac shaking hands here while there's a really mean looking picture of Vice President Dick Cheney above. Regardless, the Republican is excited to tell you all about how France and Palestine are taking steps to create a wonderful new world.)

Page A7

Gaza strife breaks 2-week lull; 5 dead (if those damn jews weren't so mean..)

Switches on tracks examined (Richard Branson, ahem, I mean SIR Richard Branson, liberal celebrity, bites lip and saves the world when British trains come derailed. If people could only be as enlightened as our celebrities)

Page A8

College Sorority sends sisters packing
(This happens every day. This is not news)

Page A9

Gay Rights bills heading for a vote
(Quick! Call your congressmen and start screaming about hate crimes! C'mon, what're you waiting for!?!?!?)

Page A10

Italian Premier gets another shot
(He's a liberal by the way. Everyone LOVES this guy. You should, too)

Page A11

(The President kids, is officially page 11 news)

Univision fined $24 million (que?)

Page 13
Governors warn of cuts in child health (Bush wants YOUR kids dead. Your governors are even telling you)

Page A16

Lawmakers In N.Y. push moratorium on n-word
(More stories for race-baiters)

I'll try and track this every Sunday until the Republican decides to maintain a little bit more balance in their 'news' coverage. Until then, do the world a favor and stop dropping dollars on the Springfield Republican. It's really not worth it.

Am I Stupid For Even Wondering?

I really am dissapointed in myself that I even bother to wonder why the Republican Party has proven itself totally incompetent in recent weeks should look nor further than a story that was (astonishingly) buried in the back page of the Springfield Republican's Local section today.

The Story was entitled "6 Patrick Staffers earn $100,000" or more. The story is the latest in a series of news stories that show how incredibly incompetent and inept our sitting Governor is, and how his spending habbits are completely and utterly out of control. Here's a run down of the fun:

--Chief of Staff to the Governor's Education advisor makes $90,000
--Deputy Chief of Staff Brendan Ryan earns $95,000
--David Simas is another Deputy Chief of Staff (I guess you can't have too many of those) and he's making $100,000 as well.
--Deputy chief legal counsel Michael Pineault makes $100,000

Everyone's on the dole big time in the Governor's office. If you were to add all this up (there's TONS more), we'd be getting into the million and a half range in terms of salary per year. Between the curtains, pod casts, Cadillacs and other things, it's pretty obvious this governor needs to have some folks at least attempt to keep him in check.

............or not so much.

"I Really can't criticize him on that" said Senate Minority Leader Richard Tisei, who is a Republican. "The Governor is the CEO of a $26 billion entity, and he needs top quality people in positions like chief of staff and legal counsel. If this were a similar sized company in the private sector, these salaries would be considered low," He concluded.

That's a bunch of crap. Plain and simple. The difference between a company and the government is that I forcibly have to pay my money into the government. It's all about the power of coercian. When people get into public administration they usually go into it knowing they're not going to get the kind of compensation you can get in the private sector. We've stuffed the fat cats' pockets for so long in this state, it's now becoming and accepted thing and even Republicans are condoning it. Everyone's in it to make a buck apparently.

We've got tons of people running around talking about getting up and making something out of the Republican Party in this state, but it's impossible to do without, you know, showing people that we're different from the Democrats. Man is truly not a creature of circumstance.

Helmets For Our State Legislators

If you didn't think things could be any more outrageous on Beacon Hill these days, you were wrong. Dead wrong. Just read this Story for proof.

This past week, Senator Steven Panagiatakos (guess which Party) has now filed legislation that would require kids to wear helmets while they go sledding. It's official: we've crossed the line of stupidity to outright insanity. Truth be told, the only people who should be wearing helmets are the folks on Beacon Hill that would support this kind of crap legislation.

First, it was fluffernutter sandwiches. Now it's helmets for sledding. I can't wait to see full body armor and gas masks for kids who want to play tag. I'd call the legislation "Pimp My Kid".

I stay up at night sometimes thinking about how our society became this incredibly far gone. I'd be clamoring for the baby-boomers to kick the bucket as soon as possible if it were not for my own generation being equally as idiotic. Rome is burning, folks.

What Makes Barak Obama Qualified to be President? Part III

Thank you so much to 96.9 FM Talk Radio and Michael Graham for Making My Day. I'll parrot some of his points and toss in a few of my own, allowing and inspiring me to complete my mini-series on Barak Obama's unqualifications for the White House.

POP QUIZ!

Who said which of the following statements have been made by both Barak Obama and Deval Patrick in the last 90 days Can you identify which one said what?

A) "We have to change our politics, and come together around our common interests and concerns as Americans."

B) "You know what else has to change? Our politics."

C) "Grassroots governing, like grassroots campaigning, is about listening to people."

D) "I've learned that meaningful change always begins at the grassroots."

E) "There are people just like me who are hungry for a reason to hope."

F) "People are hungry for a different kind of politics."

G) "I have great faith and hope about the future - because I believe in you."

H) "Changing our politics can only come from you."

I) "The change I’m talking about is up to you. "

J) "Take a chance on hope."

K) "We must draw a line in the sand between the politics of cynicism and the politics of hope."

L) "Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope?"

Does it even matter at this point? It looks like the Democrats just want us to vote for eloquent, unqualified black men. For all I know, there could be tons of reasons to really go out and support Barak Obama's campaign for the Presidency, but no one from his camp are telling anyone. They did mention however, that he is, you know... black.

I'm already tired of the new wave of supposedly eloquent African American Democrats who are constantly talking about being above the fray, yet have no mark on their record that would suggest otherwise. Instead they mask their charade using words like 'hope' and 'change', all the while using their race as an excuse for avoiding the specifics. In the end, Democrats want us to vote for someone because of their race, which is just as ridiculous as voting against someone for the same reasons. This is a new, dangerous trend that puts race and style above substance and experience. Ironically, both Patrick and Obama completely lack the experience to pursue the offices they decided to seek. Patrick tricked the crowd, and it's very likely Obama could do the same.

Throughout the 2006 campaign, Patrick was high on substance and low of policy stances. It's taken until now to find out how he sees the world, and sadly, it's too late to avoid the train wreck. Let's hope voters find out what Obama thinks about things BEFORE we head to the polls.

Ever Walk in On Your Parents Having Sex?

This is the one thing that just makes me shake my head at Massachusetts Politics in general.

There is perhaps no other legislative body in the country that is more disgraceful then the Massachusetts General Court. No one is as unqualified to be a Governor as Deval Patrick. If this doesn't prove it, I don't know what does.

To be blunt, I could care less about where Governor Patrick's ideological stances are at this point. I never thought I'd say that, but really, it's true. I just want to see this guy get through one day giving off the aura that he might have the slightest clue of, I don't know, WHAT TO DO.

We've had all sorts of fluffer-nutter Pod Casts, Civil Rights speeches, and other acts that give us 'fuzzy feelings'. Deval's not wearing the old tie to the office as much anymore and is going for the more casual, cool look. He opened up the Governor's private elevator so everyone can use it. He took those ugly velvet ropes around the corner office down, too. Don't you feel more 'engaged'!?What's next? A soft serve ice cream maker in the main rotunda of the state house that gives away 'free' cones to anyone who wants it? Is this Sesame Street?

In his first month in office, Patrick has almost burnt his office down accidentally (which he laughed about on his 'Pod Cast'), dismissed the man whom he had just appointed to the head of the Economic Affairs cabinet position and replaced him with, well, himself. He played long-face about the recently discovered budget deficit before re-instating nearly $383 million dollars worth of cuts to the budget and now apparently is considering completely crushing the budget by raising the salaries of members of the state legislature all so he can get a free ride for the next four years. Seeing as everyone else seems to be getting a nice wad of dough except for, of course, those of us whose shoulders it will fall on to pay for all these goodies.

If that weren't fun enough,, has announced he will not be keeping his pledge to cut property taxes, abandoned any state role in apprehending illegal immigrants and announced his opposition to voters participating in the state constitution's initiative and petition process.

Then right up there with The Senator Barrios "Kill Peanut Butter and Fluff Sandwiches" legislation, Deval Patrick is trying to get more in touch with us by speaking to use through our iPods. After all, If that's not government in action, I don't know what is. Patrick said he was eager for the opportunity, touting it as a wonderful opportunity for more 'dialogue', which in the end, kind of confuses me. For a 'dialogue' to occur, two people need to be talking to each other, right? So if Governor Patrick is interested in hearing from me or is considering playing people's concerns back and responding to them, there isn't much 'dialogue' going on, just more Patrick sweet talk.

Politically, one must wonder where Patrick's head has gone. Ideological differences aside, I admired his political know how and his ability to pain an image of himself and successfully market it to the masses. He ran a brilliant campaign for governor, although now, the truth may be coming out that it wasn't about changing anything, it was about marketing a gimmick. Never once was it about substance, it was all style. Senator Steven Bounoconti of West Springfield, the DEMOCRAT legislator of the year once upon a time, called Patrick "Naive". Dan Bosely, Patrick's original Economic Affairs appointment, couldn't take it on saw the writing on the wall before so much as the first week of his administration was done. Now, Patrick's willing to bump up the salaries of the pigs in the legislature in exchange for passing more of his goof-ball legislation and doing it blatently right out in the open for everyone to see. Listening and watching the actions of the Democrats in the state house, you can't help but question whether Patrick possesses even the core competencies that are required to do the basics of the job.

Now I'm not naive to the process. I know how it works. The Legislature gets goodies if they give goodies back to Deval, Quid Pro Quo. But the problem I have with deals like the one Patrick is floating around with the Massachusetts Legislature is alot like the one we have about our Parents and having sex. Sure you know your parents do it, afterall, if they didn't, you wouldn't be here reading this. But it's a totally different thing to see it actually happening right in front of you. I know the legislature and the Patrick Administration are trying to stuff their own pockets as well as their buddies' pockets. I just wish they'd at least try to do it behind closed doors.

It's less politically inclined folks like Patrick that make me squirm these days. At least when most politicians make these kinds of sleezy deals, they try to keep them hidden. Then I can justify my outrage and come on and rant about it around here. But when you've got bafoons like Governor Patrick running around the Corner Office, I can't help but think the fun has been taken out of it all.

Why the Mass GOP Should Consider "Schilling" a Ball Player for Senate

With the recent announcement on the part of Senator John Kerry that he will not run for the Presidency in 2008, it has stirred up a lot of interest on our side of the aisle as to whom we should throw up against him for his Senate seat.

If he decides to run, I'd be very likely to back Curt Schilling as the GOP nominee.

I know, a lot of people may take exception to our running a guy with no political experience like Shilling for not only a powerful position in the US Government, but for a seat that actually may be as vulnerable as John Kerry's is.

If you're one of those folks you have a point. After all, Kerry is indeed vulnerable. Wouldn't it be wise to strike while the iron is hot and not blow our wad on a candidate with as little qualifications as Curt Schilling has.

Allow me to make the case.

Here is the current state of affairs: John Kerry is in a very weakened state after not only losing his Presidential quest in 2004, but also in his own self-burial in the time since then, taking full advantage of every opportunity he's had to make an idiot out of himself. In fact, he has handled himself so poorly, that running for the White House in 2008 would likely be a detriment to his party, even in such a crowded and comedic field as the Democratic field for 2008 is.

Kerry has not only been lambasted for his off-beat stances on many issues of the day, but has also morphed into everything we love to hate about Democrats in general. He has an incredible penchant for pomposity and has the preachy, if not utterly condescending tone that contributes to the overall perception that he's altogether, insincere. He's the epitome of leftist elitism and a lightning rod for criticism, even from those who share many of his beliefs.

His level of commitment to his home state is a perfect example of what NOT to do if you're a US Senator and coupled with the reasons mentioned above, he may be ripe for the picking, even in an as Democratically-inclined state as Massachusetts.

The Republican Party in Massachusetts is teetering on extinction. Altogether, the MassGOP makes up only 13% of the registered voting population. The Massachusetts Governor's office was the last bastion of hope to many Conservatives who had otherwise been purged and repeatedly and in some cases, have been brutally beaten back by the nearly invincible Democratic Machine that dominates Massachusetts politics.

Party enrollment is at an all time low. While some Republicans can take solace in the fact that Democratic numbers haven't exactly been exploding either, the state GOP has had little success in recruiting those who identify themselves as independents, despite enjoying considerable support from them in past Gubernatorial elections.

Which brings us to today and why Curt Schilling should be the Republican Nominee to challenge John Kerry in 2008.

1.) CREATING A BUZZ-- It's been forever and then some since Republicans in this state had a magnet for publicity like a Schilling candidacy would be. Being a Republican in Massachusetts would be 'cool' again and inject some much needed energy into a State party that badly needs it.

2.) INDEPENDENT APPEAL-- With party numbers dwindling on both sides, a Schilling Candidacy would appeal to those who are otherwise apathetic towards the political process at best. Signing them up and engaging them in the political process would be nothing but a win for the state GOP before any votes are counted. We need numbers and a Schilling candidacy would help boost party membership.

3.) A SHOT IN THE ARM TO THE LOCALS-- If he does run and assuming he wins the nomination, if I were Peter Torkildsen, I'd be sure to inject Schilling's star power into every state legislative race I possibly could. People would show up to see Schilling and as a result, local candidates he supports would receive a rub as well, and likely a strong showing at the polls. It's free publicity for even candidates running for state representative.

4.) CONSERVATION-- Yes, there are more qualified candidates than Curt Schilling for the United States Senate. However, why waste them in a race where they'd likely get beat? This keeps the Kerry Healey's, Charlie Baker's, Andy Card's and Reed Hillman's on the sidelines, but keeps them warm for possible congressional campaigns and or the governor's office in 2010. Taking on John Kerry, even a vulnerable John Kerry, would be a risky proposition for the average state Republican candidate. Sadly, good candidates like Healey and Hillman for example, are a loss away from political oblivion. Why not play our cards smart and run them when the political climate would be most favorable to them, rather than risk them against Kerry?

5.) CONTRAST-- The best chance the MassGOP has of beating Kerry is to run someone who would be his polar opposite. Schilling is a ball player, Kerry is a player. Schilling is disheveled and otherwise unkempt and ordinary, Kerry uses more hair spray then all the members of Poison combined. Schilling has appeal with the 'little guy' not just on his appearance and name recognition, but how he delivers his policy stances. He'd be real, not the 'real deal'. Other candidates, however, do not provide that stark of a contrast. Kerry Healey and Charlie Baker are wealthy and to many, represent the typical White-Collar Republican that doesn't appeal to the masses. Sure, Kerry is in the same boat, but if you present voters with a choice between richy rich lefty and richy rich righty, in this state, they'll stick with the status quo. Andy Card will not win an election so long as President Bush is still in the White House, at least not in this state. Hillman's a little different in the fact that he's very likeable, but likely doesn't have the drawing power that Schilling would have.

Schilling provides voters with a clear alternative whom they can identify with. He brings a level of 'star power' that none of the other candidates, save for possibly Andy Card, can boast.

However, above all, Schilling has an 'X' factor about him that can't be said of any of the other hopefuls: If Curt Schilling loses, the state party still wins. There will be more registered Republicans in Massachusetts. We would likely win a few extra seats in the legislature as a result of the rub he could give lower level candidates. In sum, a Schilling candidacy would be a net-gain either way, without sacrificing better, more politically-inclined candidates.

Kerry, even if he won, would likely resume his reign on idiocy on the national scene and sustain his vulnerability until it's time to un-elect him again. With Ted Kennedy not getting any younger, it maintains a strong pool of candidates to run against a Democratic nominee if Kennedy's seat were to open up. We also have a reasonable field of candidates to stack up against Deval Patrick in 2010. A Schilling candidacy would be a major step forward win or lose.

In politics, it's sometimes better to take a minor sacrifice to win the battle. In the current political reality, the Massachusetts Republican Party is in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. With typically gutsy showing by a possible Schilling campaign may not give us the runs we need to win the game, it would be enough to push the game into extra innings and give us a chance to win. I say "Play Ball!"

Numbers Don't Lie, Kids...

Those on the state committee and the powers that be at the state GOP headquarters would do well to take a look at some recent surveys conducted by the Massachusetts Republican Assembly. The numbers are telling as to how badly the state party has failed it's constituents. Here are some of the highlights:

First how the Candidates felt:

--17% of Candidates surveyed felt positive regarding the training they recieved from the state party, 13% thought it imparted necessary knowledge and skills.

--10% said the State Committee continuously monitored their campaign's progress and provided useful feedback and advice.

--6% felt positive regarding MassGOP fundraising efforts and allocation of funds. 87% had a negative impression.

--83% were dissatisfied with the work State GOP Office holders did in endorsing their campaign.

That's just the candidates themselves. Here's how many town committee members felt about their state committee folks:

--State CommitteeMEN had an approval rating of 45%

--State CommitteeWOMEN had an approval rating of 42%

--79% of WRITTEN responses mentioned that the state committtee is not responsive to local needs.

--51% of respondents felt that their state committe-person did a good job of keeping them informed of the state party activities.

In order for the Massachusetts Republican Party to flourish in this state again, there needs to be a commitment towards developing that 'farm' team, but there seems to be little to no interest on the part of the state committee to do so. Hopefully with the election of Peter Torkildsen, we'll get some much needed change in the overall culture of the state party. Anyone curious as to what the Massachusetts Republican Assembly DOES, you can check out their website at . Apparently despite circulating the results of this survey around the state party in the past, it's been ignored. Maybe it'd behoove the higher ups to pay attention this time.
